xxx Acrylics I wanted to incorporate a character i came up with of mine into one of my artworks and i took this project as a perfect opportunity. Since it was a creature of horror, I wanted my artwork to portray an eerie or uncomfortable feeling. I don’t think I can relate to this as much on a personal level, but I’ve always enjoyed all things creepy. Cryptids especially, but I never have a chance to make art about it until now. |
It's Horrid.2022
Charcoal pencils ... I decided to create a piece that portrayed a specific emotion to the audience. The strong emotions I wanted to convey were fear, anxiety, and derealization. I’ve felt as if I needed a change in scenery and to get outside of my comfort zone. What better way to do this than to draw something uncomforting while feeling outside my normal comfort zone? The story I imagined was that a small child, representing innocence, discovers that there isn't just happiness in the world, and the horrid and terrifying components of the world come flooding into what we usually think is the safest place in the world. Our home. The creatures you see in my piece are terrifying to look at because you feel fear every time you discover something negative that's entirely new to you, you feel scared as if you do not want to face it. The child is on the far end of the room with no escape to emphasize that you can never really avoid these problems and will be forced to confront them eventually.

16 by 20 Oil Pastels I took inspiration for my piece from the movie Rio, there is one scene where all the birds are singing together in the rain forest. I wanted to capture a sense of unity with different kinds of birds of all shapes and sizes. I made this piece because Rio had always been a favorite movie of mine since I was a child, and I think the message I received from the movie is really meaningful. I feel like I relate to it because, in a way, I think I feel like overall i get along with everyone I meet. |
